What is a lace wig?
A lace wig is a wig that is made from a fine mesh base. The mesh – known as the lace is matched to the colour of your skin – and is constructed to fit the shape and size of your head perfectly. Human hairs are inverted individually strand by starnd into the lace wig. This creates a natural movement and means that the lace wig can be styled in a multitude of ways unlike a conventional wig. You can acheive a high pony tail, french plait, cornrows, a quiff, or a bun with a lace wig – it is absoultely the most fabulous invention.
A lot of clients come to us and say they don’t like their natural hairline, it recedes too much or is a weird shape, with a lace wig you can change the shape of your natural hairline and achieve one that is more feminine. Some clients tell us that they wish their forehead was smaller, this again is something that can be disguised with a lace wig, although you don’t want the hairline too low or you may resemble a character from Planet of the Apes!
The lace wig can be made from Indian, Chinese, Mongolian, European or Brazilian hair. You can have any colour from jet black to platinum blonde and any texture from afro hair to European hair. The lace wig is maintained correctly should last you between 3 – 12 months with the occasional refil.
The lace wig can be washed on or off your head and if your lace wig is made from human hair it can be straightened with straighteners or curled with tongs. Many of our clients also opt to get their lace wig cut into a style.
The lace wig is attached below the perimeter of your hairline with adhesives or tapes and can stay in place with touch ups between 1 – 6 weeks without having to remove it at night time. The lace wig can be re applied time and time again.
